Mah Mehn—also known as the nation’s duo—was a Filipino pop group that debuted on August 17, 2024, with their single ‘Mah Mehn.’
Despite only debuting three months ago and having one single with two versions (clean and explicit), the duo was able to achieve notable milestones such as Best Selling Album of the Year, Best Duo Artist of the Year, Best Song of the Year, 10,000,000 Album Covers Sold, and Sold Out Concerts All Over the World, which were all announced yesterday (November 10, 2024) by their management, ABS-SHEE-BN.
Fans quickly showed admiration and pride for Mah Mehn due to their achievements and growth. However, this feeling was short-lived as within seconds of the announcement, a surprise documentary was posted by their manager (@bini_sheena). Although documentaries are typically made to showcase an artist's journey and who they truly are, Mah Mehn fans experienced something different since the post included the word 'disbandment'.
In the documentary, the management stated that Mah Mehn members, Jhoanna and Stacey, encountered severe conflicts that ultimately led to the duo’s disbandment. In one of the clips shown, we hear the duo arguing, with Jhoanna specifically stating that Stacey was not listening to her, while Stacey, on the other hand, tries to defend herself. The conflict ends with Jhoanna walking out, which was then followed by the documentary showing Mah Mehn's final moments before their disbandment.No one really expected this to happen since Mah Mehn was just a week away from celebrating their third debut monthsary. Especially their fans—who were still waiting for their official fandom name, but were met with the disbandment news instead.
However, the fans’ focus on their sadness didn't last long when they recognized a familiar figure in the documentary. She was nicknamed as 'ateng naka red' by fans, and was labeled as a dedicated camerawoman and a sasaeng.The camerawoman narrative came from new fans, while those who had been following Mah Mehn since pre-debut recognized her as the person who got too close to Jhoanna during her soundcheck session at a music fest in La Union that was held back in May.
Fans have expressed genuine concern for Mah Mehn's privacy, urging the management to take a closer look and act on the situation.
Speculation grew when 'ateng naka-red' used her real account (@bini_maloi) to share news about the disbandment. Unexpectedly, Stacey replied to the tweet, asking Maloi if she was the 'makulit na paparazzi'.This interaction sparked even more curiosity among fans, prompting them to dig up information about Maloi and her relationship with Mah Mehn. More theories emerged as fans discovered old photos and videos of her with the duo.
Rumors began circulating about Maloi having a relationship with Jhoanna, leading fans to speculate that this could be the reason behind the disbandment, especially in light of the rumors about a growing romance between the duo.
Meanwhile, fans also found rare and hard-to-find clips of Maloi and Stacey, further fueling the growing confusion.
However, Mah Mehn's manager (@bini_sheena) quickly shut down the rumors, clarifying that Maloi was simply a mabait and masipag na may pagka fc staff member and that the person in the La Union clip was BINI Jho, not Mah Mehn Jho.
Despite this, fans quickly pointed out the inconsistencies between the statements made by Stacey and their manager. "Who should we really believe?" fans asked.The fandom is now eagerly waiting for Mah Mehn Jhoanna and Maloi to release statements to clarify the situation and put an end to the confusion.
But just when things already seemed complicated, the speculation behind Mah Mehn's disbandment took an even more unexpected turn. In the documentary, fans recognized another familiar figure, who, until now, has remained unidentified—but many believe that she is Mah Mehn Jhoanna's lover.
This rumor gained even more traction when the two were suddenly seen together in a recent TikTok post.
